Rockford Scanner™: Moderate to briefly heavy snow is possible this evening

Light snow/wintry mix will continue through this afternoon for most locations.

Then, a brief 6 hour or less period of moderate to briefly heavy snow is possible this evening, with a focus generally from 5-11 pm across northeast Illinois into northwest Indiana.

Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour may be possible under the stronger snow bands.

The combination of this snow with strong north to northeast winds gusting to 35-45+mph will produce a period of hazardous conditions with significantly reduced visibility at times. Be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
