Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Rockford man for sexually assaulting a woman last month.
On August 8th, 2019, Rockford Police Officers responded to a residence in Rockford in the area of 14th Street after a report of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers met with a victim who was transported to a Rockford hospital to be treated for her injuries. Sensitive Crimes Detectives conducted a follow up investigation that was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized against Juan Moreno-Jimenez (DOB: 11/24/1969). Moreno-Jimenez was recently indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury on Criminal Sexual Assault charges.
Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class 1 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years of Mandatory Supervised Release.
Moreno-Jimenez is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail on $350,000.00 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment at 8:30am on September 19th, 2019, in front of the Honorable Judge Brendan Maher in Courtroom D at the Winnebago County Justice Center.
The charges are merely allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
