Rockford Scanner: Illinois State Police Investigating Multiple Expressway Shootings, Multiple People Shot





 


 

 

ISP INVESTIGATES THREE EXPRESSWAY SHOOTINGS

Anyone who witnessed any of these shootings or has any knowledge of the shootings is asked to contact the ISP at 847-294-4400. Callers can remain anonymous.

  1. Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting which occurred on Saturday July 18, 2020, at approximately 2:56 a.m. on Interstate 57 northbound at 147th Street.

    ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to the above location after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, ISP Troopers located two victims. The driver and the rear seat passenger of the victim vehicle were both transported to a local area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained by gunfire. The front seat passenger of the victim vehicle was not injured.

    Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle also traveling on Interstate 57 northbound near 147th Street. At approximately 3:05 a.m., all northbound lanes of Interstate 57 were closed for the investigation with traffic diverted off at 147th Street. At approximately 7:10 a.m., all northbound lanes on Interstate 94 at 147st Street were reopened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

  2. Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting, which occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at approximately 4:55 a.m. on the Ontario Feeder Ramp westbound at Interstate 90/94.

    ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to the above location after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, ISP officers learned one person sustained a non-life threatening injury from gunfire and was receiving treatment at a local area hospital.

    Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle also traveling on the Ontario Feeder Ramp westbound near Interstate 90/94. The Ontario Feeder Ramp westbound was closed at approximately 5:00 a.m. for the investigation. At approximately 9:38 a.m., the Ontario Feeder Ramp was reopened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, no further information is available at this time.

  3. Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting, which occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the ramp from Interstate 57 southbound near 111th Street.

    ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to the above location after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, ISP officers located one victim. The driver of the victim vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries from gunfire and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The front seat passenger of the victim vehicle was not injured.

    Preliminary reports indicate the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle also traveling in the area near the ramp from Interstate 57 southbound near 111th Street. The ramp from Interstate 57 southbound to 111th Street was closed at approximately 1:45 p.m. for the investigation. At approximately 6:20 p.m., the ramp was reopened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, no further information is available at this time.
