SUSPECTS ARRESTED: On Friday, July 19, 2019, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Rockford Police Patrol Officers responded to a call of shots fired at a residence in the 700 block of Bruce Street. Officers learned a 27-year-old female was dog-sitting for a friend when two suspects, both known to the victim, entered her house. The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Kelvin Langston and 26-year-old Douglas Hollyfield, then took turns shooting the dog several times. The dog died from its injuries. No one else was hurt. The suspects fled the scene.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident, which was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. The below listed charges were authorized against Langston and Hollyfield, and warrants obtained.

On Thursday afternoon, August 8, 2019, investigators were notified that Douglas Hollyfield had been taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department.
On Friday, August 9, 2019 at about 12:15 p.m., Kelvin Langston turned himself in at the Criminal Justice Center and was lodge in the Winnebago County Jail.
The charges against Langston and Hollyfield are merely accusations. They are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
