Belvidere Police and Boone County Deputies used police K9 and drone to apprehend two Rockford residents for Burglary to Motor Vehicle in the Prairie Place Subdivision.
MARCUS S. ARMSTRONG, Age 31 of Rockford, was charged with Burglary, a Class 2 Felony punishable by 3 – 7 years in the Department of Corrections
DARRELL B. MACKEY, age 32 of Rockford, was charged with Burglary, a Class 2 Felony punishable by 3 – 7 years in the Department of Corrections
On Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 1:50 a.m. the Belvidere Police Department received a complaint from a resident in the Prairie Place neighborhood regarding 2 subjects breaking into cars.
Belvidere Police, Boone County Deputies, and Illinois State Police responded to the 4100 block of Hearthstone Lane in Belvidere where they located two subjects who fled on foot when officers tried to stop them. Belvidere Police began a K9 track of the suspects as Boone County deputies used their drone to search the area.
Both suspects were eventually apprehended and taken to the Belvidere Police Department. Belvidere Police Detectives investigated and located several vehicles that were burglarized. Detectives presented the information to the Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office who authorized charges against the two suspects.
