Rockford Scanner™: 2 Arrested For Marijuana & Ecstasy





 

On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Deputy and K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop at the Belvidere Oasis, 2500 Pearl Street, resulting in the arrest of a two subjects on felony drug charges.

Investigators with the Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit were called to assist. During the investigation 50 tablets of MDMA (Ecstasy), approximately 446 grams of cannabis, and a vehicle was seized.

Demetrius D. Broadwater, age 50, of Chicago, Illinois was charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (class X felony) and one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4 felony). Broadwater remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with a bond of $300,000/10%.

Lashawn D. Figgins, age 49, of Beloit, Wisconsin was charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (class 1 felony) and one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4 felony). Figgins remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with a bond of $75,000/10%.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. A class X felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the Department of Corrections. A class 1 felony is punishable by 4-15 years in the Department of Corrections. A class 4 felony is punishable by 1-3 years in the Department of Corrections.
