Rockford Scanner: 1 Dead and 1 Seriously Hurt After A Motorcycle & Vehicle Collide

On Friday July 10th 2020, at approximately 3:00pm Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Illinois Route 76 and Springcreek Rd in reference to an injury accident.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee driver by a 21 year old male from Rockford was turning northbound on Illinois Route 76 from eastbound Springcreek Rd when it collided with a southbound 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 63 year old Poplar Grove man. Springcreek is controlled by a stop sign.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene by Boone County Coroner’s Office. Driver of the Jeep was transported to Javon Bea Mercy Hospital by Lifeline Ambulance with minor injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

The identity of the drivers is not being release at this time.



Sources are reporting a fatal motorcycle accident. 

It happened this afternoon near Spring Creek and 76 in Boone County. 

A Motorcycle and a vehicle have collided. 

1 person is confirmed dead and another was airlifted from the scene. 

Police are investigating and will have the area blocked off for many hours.
