Update: 2:40PM 10/30/20 – Following next of kin notification, Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby has released the name of the victim of Devin Bailey, 37, of Oregon.
Bond has been set at $500,000 for Cody Neuschwanger, 24, of Polo on the charges of First Degree Murder and Mob Action.
On Thursday October 29th at approximately 9:11pm, Rochelle Police Officers responded to a 911 call for a possible shooting in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 37 year old male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Rochelle Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit are conducting an investigation.
RPD was assisted on scene by the Rochelle Fire Department and Ogle County Sherriff’s Office.
Charged in the incident are:
-Cody Neuschwanger, 24, Polo – First Degree Murder, Mob Action
-Two 17-year old juveniles from Polo – Mob Action
Neuschwanger was transported to Ogle County Jail and the two Juveniles were released to their parents.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
