FATAL ACCIDENT: Man Passes Away After Rolling His Vehicle Into A Gas Line And Rupturing It


Update on fatal vehicle accident, 4pm Wednesday, April 8, 2020 : The City of Beloit Police Department extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Epigmenio C. Olvera, 46, of Janesville, who was killed in Tuesday’s single-vehicle accident near Prairie Avenue and Inman Parkway.

Olvera was the driver of the vehicle in the accident. A passenger, a 33-year-old Janesville man, was transported to a local hospital.

A witness reported to our department that the vehicle squealed its tires, took off at a high rate of speed, lost control and flipped twice before landing on the gas line, rupturing it.

Updated, 8:30pm Tuesday: We are investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident at Inman Parkway and Prairie Avenue that occurred at 7:11 pm tonight.

The vehicle rolled over twice and landed on a gas line, which ruptured. The gas has since been turned off by Alliant Energy.

One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another individual was transported to a local hospital.

We will be out investigating for a few hours; the Wisconsin State Patrol will be conducting the accident reconstruction. Alliant Energy will also be on scene for several hours working on the repair. Approximately 120 customers will have be impacted by the gas shut off. Please avoid this area tonight until we have cleared from the scene.
