RS Sources are reporting a hit and run in Rockford.

It happened around 3:30 pm. The RS source was traveling North on 11th street, when they crossed the tracks at Woodruff and 11th.

RS source told us they saw a black truck in the southbound lane, far right, with his wheels turned left as if he was going to try to cut off 3 lanes of traffic to turn left onto woodruff.

They passed this vehicle and continued North. The RS source glanced in their rear view mirror and saw the truck hit the car.

They turned around to call 911 and see if anyone was injured.

RS source is reporting to us:  A usual when they called to report things, the call taker once again argued with the RS source.
The 911 call taker insisted that the RS source let that driver get away.

RS source said “No, I did that the last time, you all never caught him, fuck that, no I’m not backing off.”

They observed a black 2000 Yukon license plate z84 0736 fleeing the scene.

RS source stayed behind the Yukon while on the phone with 911 who kept telling me to let the Yukon flee.

RS source insisted no as long as we were driving the speed limit and he was not endangering anyone by driving irreducibly or excessive speeding I was staying behind him until police could intervene.

They followed the Yukon keeping it in eyesight until the driver arrived at the 5400 block of Midvale Dr where a police car was nearby and was able to apprehend the driver.

Who had appeared to have a beer in his vehicle, later confirmed by it being placed on the roof of the truck.

RPD has not yet confirmed anything
