Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested For Felony Disorderly Conduct, After Falsely Reporting His Vehicle Stolen

Felony Disorderly Conduct

On 09/21/2018 at approximately 3:16 PM, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a stolen vehicle complaint at 4449 W. IL Rte 64.

After investigation, Deputies learned the vehicle was in fact not stolen and the report was false. Deputies then placed Hortencia Jaimes-Carbajal, age 43 of Mt. Morris under arrest for Disorderly Conduct (class 4 felony).

Jaimes-Carbajal was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held pending a court appearance in front of a judge.

On 09/12/18 at 7:48 pm, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Il Rt 72 at Mill Rd for a traffic violation.

After a positive K9 indication, the vehicle was searched and driver David W Richards, age 27 of Sterling was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (x2), Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Drug Equipment and Driving While License Suspended.

Richards was also given civil citations for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis under 10 Grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The front seat passenger, Kasey Orr age 38 of Sterling was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Equipment.

Both subjects were transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Details are minimal right now. 

A man was shot, possibly in the neck area. 

It happened around the Castle Rock Park area. Unknown if it happened at the park, or near it.  

Unknown on the victims condition, or suspect information.

On August 30th, approximately 7:55AM, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the 2200 block of W Montague Rd.

The driver and lone occupant, Deryl Beyer, was transported (by German Valley Fire/ambulance) to Freeport Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries

On 08-29-18 the following were arrested for outstanding Ogle County Warrants:

Gregory M Bradford, age 27 of Rockford for Failure to Appear. Bradford did not post the $2,820.23 Full Cash Bond and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Bradford will appear in court on 09/04/18 at 9:00 am.

Shane R Brogan, age 21 of Rockford for Domestic Battery. Brogan did not post the $25,000 10% bond and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Brogan will appear in court on 08/30/18 at 2:00 pm.

Brian J Miller, age 33 of Rockford for Failure to Appear with a Full Cash Bond of $1,922. Miller posted $601 and was released. Miller will appear in court on 09/04/18 at 9:00 am.

Shon E Yarbrough, age 40 of Savannah, TN for Contempt of Court. Yarbrough posted the $15,000 10% bond and was released. Yarbrough will appear in court on 09-21-18 at 9:00 am.

he following were arrested on Ogle County Outstanding Warrants:

Brett Bradley, age 37, of Rockford for Drug Court Sanctions. Bradley does not have a bond, but will go to court on 08/29/18 at 1:00pm. Bradley remain in the Ogle County Jail.

Pracey Walton, age 47, of Freeport for Deceptive Practice. Walton had a bond of $7,500/10%. Walton did post bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Walton will have to return to court on 09/10/18 at 9:00am.

On 08-24-18 the following were arrested for outstanding Ogle County Warrants:

Marissa A Cathina, age 30 of Rockford for Failure to Appear with a Full Cash Bond of $601. Cathina was released on a Recognizance Bond and will appear in court on 09-24-18 at 9:00 am.

Kelly M Morrison, age 34 of Rockford for Failure to Appear with a Full Cash Bond of $3,600. Morrison was released on a Recognizance Bond and will appear in court on 9-24-18 at 9:00 am.

On 08/23/18 the following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

Misti Fant, age 36 of Ashton, for D.U.I. Fant has a bond of $3,000/10% and remains at the Ogle County Jail. Fant will appear in court on 08/24/18 at 1 p.m.

Hector Flores, age 29 of Rockford, for Failure to Appear. Flores posted the $201 purge bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail.

Daniel Ellison, age 22 of Mt. Morris, for Disorderly Conduct. Ellison posted the $3,000%10% bond and will appear in court on 09/14/18 at 9 a.m.

On 08/22/18 the following people were arrested on outstanding Ogle County warrants:

Ryan Harleman, age 40 of Byron, for Contempt of Court. Harleman posted the $2,075 purge bond and was released from the Ogle County Jail. Harleman will appear in court on 08/23/18 at 1 p.m.

Melvin Gay, age 46 of DeKalb, for Failure to appear. Gay has a bond of $3,234 and remains in the Ogle County Jail. Gay will appear in court on 08/23/18 at 1 p.m.

 

 

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Man Charged After Hitting & Killing A Bicyclist Earlier Today



 

 

 

On Thursday, August 23rd at approximately 4:37 am, the DeKalb Police Department responded to a traffic accident in the 800 block of East Fairview Drive. The initial investigation showed that a 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jonathan Wood was traveling east on Fairview Drive. Wood’s vehicle crossed the fog line for eastbound traffic and struck a bicyclist who was also traveling east. Wood was the sole occupant in his vehicle. The bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries, was transported to Kishwaukee Hospital, and died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The identity of the bicyclist is being withheld pending notification of the family by the DeKalb County Coroner.

The DeKalb Police Department received assistance from the Illinois State Police and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.

The DeKalb Police Department has charged Wood with Improper Overtaking, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Improper Lane Usage. Wood is scheduled to appear in court on 09/28/2018. The investigation into any additional contributing factors is ongoing.

Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested For Drugs After Being Stopped By Police



 

 

 

On 08/20/18 at about 12:41 a.m. Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jonathan Diaz, age 30 of Berwyn, for two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver, all three being felony charges, after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South IL Route 251. Diaz was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held pending an appearance before a judge. Diaz was also cited for speeding

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Head On Collision, Reports Of Having To Cut Victim Out Of The Vehicle



 

UPDATE: Female victim was transported to a local hospital via the helicopter, with life threatening injuries.


Sources are reporting around 6:45 am this morning, several emergency personnel were responding to a head on collision. It happened in the area of Baxter and Lindenwood.

Initial reports are saying there is a head on collision near this intersection.

Extrication is being requested to cut a victim out of a vehicle.

Injuries are being reported.  Sources are saying it appears to be serious.

Avoid the area or expect delays. Still developing.

UPDATE: Sounds like a medical helicopter is en route to the scene. Possible garbage truck involved. A female in her 30’s has life threatening injuries and is being transported to a local E.R. via the emergency helicopter.

 








Rockford Scanner™: Vehicle Crashes Into a House & Causes a Major Gas Leak, Residents Evacuated

Around 930 this morning a vehicle crashed into a house in the 5600 block of S. Central Rd. in Ogle County.

 The accident caused a major gas leak and officials had evacuated the area.

 Officials told residents to avoid the areas of Center road and Flagg

As of 11 AM they were still not able to get the leak under control and opened up the local fire station for the residents that were evacuated.

Just before 1 PM they were able to get the situation under control and the residents were able to go back to their houses.

 








Rockford Scanner™: Man Robs A Local Bank Earlier Today, Police Arrest Him Short Time Later



 

 

 

On Tuesday 08/07/2018 at approximately 2:04 p.m. the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hold-up alarm at Holcomb Bank 400 E. IL Rt 38 Creston, IL. Information received indicated a male subject wearing a black hat, Chicago Bears jersey with a bandage on his face obtained an undisclosed amount of United States currency and fled the location on foot.

During the course of the investigation, a Deputy recognized the suspect from previous contacts. William Wayne Clark II was arrested for Robbery a class 2 felony. Clark was transported and housed at the Ogle County Jail.

Clark will appear before an Ogle County Judge on Wednesday 08/08/2018.

Teenager Arrested for Shooting on Pappas Drive

On August 7, 2018, the DeKalb Police Department received calls of possible gun shots being fired around the 800 block of North Annie Glidden Road. Officers from DeKalb City, DeKalb County, and Northern Illinois University immediately responded to the area. Officers located several shell casings in a parking lot, 900 block of Pappas Drive.

With the assistance from the community and video surveillance, officers identified the suspect in this shooting. DeKalb Police Officers searched an apartment in the 800 block of Spiros Court. During the search, Officers recovered two guns which were hidden within the apartment.
One of the guns recovered from the apartment matches the caliber of the casings that were recovered on Pappas Drive.

The DeKalb Police Department arrested a 16-year-old juvenile from Aurora IL. The juvenile has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and will be transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.

This case is still under investigation.

 


Press Release Shots Fired August 7, 2018

On Tuesday, August 7, 2018. at 12:45 pm, the DeKalb Police Department responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 800 block of N. Annie Glidden Road. Numerous officers, from three law enforcement agencies, responded immediately to the scene, spoke with multiple witnesses, and located evidence that a shooting did occur. Currently there are no reported injuries. This is an active and evolving event that remains under investigation, no additional information currently available. More information will be forthcoming as the circumstances and the investigation allow. The Northern Illinois University Police Department and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department are assisting the DeKalb Police with this investigation.

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested After Being Involved In An Auto Accident



 

 

 

On 8-6-18 at 4:49 pm, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Illinois Rte 72 and Mulford Road.

It was learned that a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Omar Corral, age 36 of Plano was Southbound on Mulford and failed to stop at the intersection causing a 1992 Mitsubishi driven by Cody Brewington, 28 of Kirkland to strike the Ford.

No injuries were reported.

Omar received citations for Disobeying Traffic Control Device and Possession of Cannabis under 10 Grams. Omar was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Fireworks and Unlawful Possession of Adulterants to Defraud Drug and Alcohol Tests. Omar was transported to the Ogle Co Jail and held without bond.

Deputes were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police, Maggio’s wrecker and D&W Wrecker.

Crash remains under investigation.

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Sources Reporting A Shooting Victim in Byron



On August 3rd, 2018 at about 0140 hours the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office responded to 5482 N. German Church Rd, rural Byron in reference to a report of a male at that location with a gunshot wound. Deputy’s found Chase Cooper (age 19), with a gunshot wound. Cooper was transported by Byron EMS to Mercy Hospital in Rockford with non-life threating injuries. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office Detectives continue to investigate the incident and confirm the information provided by witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.

Reports of at least one shooting victim near this location.

UPDATE: Officials confirm 78-year-old Lavon H. Eytalis of Byron, was taken to Mercyhealth where she passed away.

Armed Robbery Arrest

On 7/29/18 at 4:45 pm, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office responded to an Armed Robbery at the BP Gas Station located at 14032 East Route 72, Davis Junction. The investigation revealed a male entered the gas station and while armed with a weapon, stole the cash register drawer. The male was last seen Northbound on Route 251 in a silver vehicle.

On 7/30/18 at 6:40 pm, Ogle County Detectives executed a search warrant to a residence in the 4400 block of 11th Street, Rockford. Items of evidence were located at the residence and in the silver vehicle. As a result of the search warrant, Jourdan R. Mondragon, age 41 of Rockford, was arrested for an outstanding Rockford PD warrant and transported to the Winnebago County Jail.

On 7/31/18 Mondragon was arrested by Ogle County Detectives for Armed Robbery, a Class X Felony. Mondgragon will appear in Ogle County court on 8/1/18. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rockford Police Department during the execution of the search warrant.

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Local Officer Passes Away In An Auto Accident

It is with deep regret and profound sadness I wish to inform you of the passing of Lt. Randy Hilliard. Randy passed away this morning from injuries sustained in a two vehicle accident (off duty) on IL Rt 72 just outside of Byron.

Randy began his career with the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office on February 6, 1991 as a Correctional Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant and later Lieutenant holding many different positions within the Office. Randy will be deeply missed by his family at the Sheriff’s Office but more importantly his family at home.

I would ask during this very difficult time you keep Randy’s wife, children, parents and siblings in your thoughts and prayers.

The occupants of the second vehicle were extended members of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.

On 07/16/18 at approximately 8:11 am Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the 14200 block of East Illinois Rt 72.

An investigation into the accident revealed a westbound GMC driven by Stephon Pratt, age 22, of Loves Park failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and traveled off the north edge of the roadway.

The vehicle traveled through the ditch after which it overturned. Pratt, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies were assisted by Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS, Stillman EMS, New Milford EMS, and IDOT. The accident remains under investigation.
