UPDATE: Public records show Stanley Turner, the man who allegedly robbed the Dollar Tree last night and had a several hour standoff, has a long criminal history including 2nd degree murder. Turner pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Murder in 2014


 

From RPD: On Sunday, shortly after 9 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Dollar Tree (6340 E. State St.) for a possible robbery in progress. Everyone inside the store made it out, but officers learned the male suspect was still inside with what appeared to be a firearm. Officers are working to make contact with the suspect at this time. The incident is ongoing and more information will be released when possible. Please avoid the area.


RPD, SWAT, RFD and many other officers are on scene. The SWAT team is trying to communicate with someone inside the Dollar Tree.

The business is surrounded by many officers.

Police said there is an armed man inside the business, armed with a handgun. This was originally called in as a robbery in progress around 9 pm.

Officers saw the armed man running inside the store with a gun.

No other details at this time.



Sources are reporting approx. 20 police officers with their guns drawn at a business on the East side.

It happened at the Dollar Tree/Pet Smart area on E State.

Sources said there is 20 + police officers on scene and they all have their guns drawn.

It is not yet clear what is going on. But it is obviously a dangerous situation. So please avoid the area.

# 2625 N Kieth rd, we been told this is a shooting scene with multiple officers on scene.  Police only confirmed a scene, but wouldn’t provide any details.

# 3600 block of Algonquin blvd sources said there was a home invasion. Police again confirmed a scene, but didn’t provide any details.

# Auto accident near Alpine and Highcrest, avoid the area.

# Unknown scene near S Main and Seminole. Update: Citizen chases alleged burglary suspects, then they crashed their vehicle. Police have taken several people of interest into custody

# “Navy blue challenger chasing a White 2 door boxed suburban, They were driving recklessly in the north town mall area and then turned left on N Main heading towards Auburn. They almost hit a pedestrian”

No winter storm can stop the criminals in Rockford.

Last night there were a few violent crime calls.

Around 1 am there was many emergency personnel working a scene at 3725 E State st, at Taqueria San Jose. Sources told us it was a shooting scene. RPD confirmed working an “In Progress Person” call.  As you know, they have labeled shootings, as “In Progress Person” in the past.  RPD has yet to confirm the shooting though, only an “In Progress Person”

Gunshots were heard near the following areas.
2400 block of 11th st and also the 2200 block of S 6th st.
RPD confirms weapons violations near these locations.

Home invasion in the 600 block of Woodlawn.
RPD confirmed an “In progress property: Home Invasion/Burglary. ”

As you know the RPD are encrypted, and have yet to release any information on these calls or suspect information.

Sources are reporting numerous emergency personnel working a scene near S Beloit overnight around 3:45 am

It happened at the Macktown Pub at 1339 Dearborn ave in S Beloit.

Several emergency personnel were on scene.

Police said it was an “In Progress Person” call and provided no other details.

UPDATE: A suspect rammed a police car, the police fired shot at the suspect. Suspect was in a Blue 2001 Ford Focus with a plate of AP89823 comes back to an address at 2805 Edelweiss in Rockford. Sources said the alleged suspect is Alexandro Marquez. Hispanic male, medium build in his 20’s. Public records shows he has prior arrests for DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and also possession of cannabis. Police are searching for this suspect.

A neighbor said there was a roadrage incident involving the off duty officer and the alleged suspect. A lot of screaming and fighting going on just prior to the shots being fired.


OFFICER’S VEHICLE RAMMED: On Sunday, January 20, 2019 shortly before 6:30 p.m., an off-duty Rockford Police officer was the victim of a vehicular assault in the area of 8th Street and 5th Avenue.

During the incident, the off-duty officer discharged their weapon at the suspect vehicle after it rammed the officer’s vehicle. The officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. There are no known injuries at this time. (Sources said one victim was shot, RPD is saying no shooting victim) The Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force was activated at the request of Chief Dan O’Shea and will investigate the incident. This is an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.


Sources are reporting a shooting on the East side.

Shooting is in the area of  8th st and 5th ave

Numerous police on scene, sounds like they might be searching for a suspect in the area.  No other information at this time.

It happened at the big white house on the NW corner of Spring Creek and Alpine around 2:30 pm Wednesday afternoon.

Rockford Scanner™: BREAKING: Shots Fired During A Business Robbery in Rockford, Suspects Get Away

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Sunday, January 13, 2019, shortly before 11:00 a.m. patrol officers responded to the Family Dollar, 715 Broadway, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. When they arrived, officers learned that a black male suspect wearing a mask had entered the business armed with a handgun. When the suspect confronted two employees, the employees attempted to flee. The suspect then fired two rounds from the handgun in the direction of the employees before fleeing the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident and the suspect was unable to obtain anything of value from the business.

Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident. The suspect is described as a black male in his late twenties, wearing a black hat with a light blue bandana over his face, black hoodie, gray pants, and white shoes.

Sources are reporting shots were fired during an armed robbery to a Rockford business just before noon today.

It happened at the Family Dollar store at Kishwaukee and Broadway.

Reports are saying 2 suspects went in to the business and robbed the store. During the robbery shots were fired. No reports of injuries at this time.

Numerous shell casings are being recovered at the scene

Employees are reported to be shook up, but OK.

No other information at this time.
