Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit By A Vehicle in Winnebago County

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 16
Motor Vehicle VS Bicycle Fatal Traffic Crash
US 20 eastbound east of IL251, Winnebago County
May 30, 2021 at approximately 3:38 p.m.
Unit 1 –57-year-old male of Bellwood, IL (Deceased, Pending Next of Kin Notification)
Unit 2 –2018 Black Mercedes Benz
Unit 2 – Timothy R. Farrar Sr., 53-year-old male of Carpentersville, IL
Unit 2- Rhonda J. Robinson, 46-year-old female of Carpentersville, IL
Unit 2- Joyce A. Robinson, 72-year-old female of Carpentersville, IL
Unit 2- 14-year-old male of Carpentersville, IL
Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 2 was traveling eastbound in lane 1 (left lane) on Bypass 20. The bicyclist entered the roadway from the right shoulder.
Unit 2 swerved to the left to avoid striking the bicyclist. The front passenger side of Unit 2 struck the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was transported to a local where he succumbed to his injuries.
At approximately 3:49 p.m., all eastbound lanes at 11th Street and US 20 eastbound from IL 251 northbound were closed for the traffic crash investigation. At approximately 7:03 p.m., all lanes were reopened.


All parties involved are innocent, until proven guilty in a court of law. We can only provide information that IS provided to us.  As you know, the local police encrypted and are not transparent.
