Sources are reporting a power outage on the west side.
Sources said they heard an explosion noise. Then shortly after that, we got reports of a vehicle that crashed into a pole on W State near the Pierpont area. The pole is snapped in half. Unknown on injuries. Comed is reported to be on scene. Unknown on the estimated restore time.
On Saturday, July 27, 2019, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Poplar Grove man for impersonating a police officer. .
Thomas Kronas, 43 years old of Poplar Grove, Illinois, was charged with one count of False Personation of a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony). Kronas was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $75,000.00 (10%) bond.
On Saturday, July 27, 2019, Kronas allegedly used flashing red lights to stop a vehicle in the area of Riverside Road east of Argyle Road in rural Boone County. The driver of the stopped vehicle turned out to be an off duty police officer. Kronas left the scene and was later arrested at his residence by Boone County Deputies. Kronas’ vehicle, a dark blue 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe was also seized.
Kronas, who is a registered sex offender, drives a vehicle that resembles a police vehicle. Kronas’ vehicle is equipped with emergency lights, computer, dash cam, mounted cage, a “Caution K9 Stay Back” sticker and Illinois Police Association license plates MPSO The Boone County Sheriff’s Office requests if anyone has been a victim of a stop by this vehicle to please contact the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation continues and additional charges are possible. A class 4 felony is punishable by one (1) to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Sources are reporting shots fired and a police chase.
Shots were fired near Crosby on Rockfords East side.
The police were chasing the suspect. A black male in a Gray vehicle with Wisconsin plates. It is unclear if the shots were fired prior to the chase or during the chase. The suspect was able to get away near Rural.
On Sunday, March 17, 2019 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Winnebago County Deputies were dispatched to the Mobil gas station located at 4962 20th Street in Rockford for a report of an Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking.
The victim reported that he was just robbed in the parking lot of the Mobil by one male suspect who was armed with a handgun. The victim’s vehicle was taken by the suspect and the suspect fled the scene. The stolen vehicle was recovered later in the day by Winnebago County Deputies.
This investigation was taken over by the Winnebago County Detective Bureau. As a result of the investigation a suspect was identified. This investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant was issued for:
~Javari L. Conley 12/26/1994 of Rockford
-Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking
Javari Conley is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail. On May 13, 2019 Javari Conley was charged with the murder of Jaime Gonzalez which occurred on March 7, 2019 at 4800 Linden Road.
The charges against Javari Conley are merely accusations and they are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
