Sources are reporting a possible missing boater/water rescue.
It happened near Atwood Park. Emergency personnel have found a boat that is not occupied. A search is currently ongoing at the time of writing this. No description of the possible boaters that are missing. Still developing.
UPDATE: Police have confirmed a man approx 52 years old was on the boat that was anchored in the water. He is missing. his phone was left on the boat.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, shortly before 1:30 p.m., Rockford Police Patrol Officers responded to El Pueblo Mexican Restaurant (1527 Broadway) in reference to a strong arm robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a suspect entered the restaurant, threatened an employee and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
The suspect then fled westbound on Broadway before heading south on Arbor Court where officers believe he got into a vehicle. No one was hurt during the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, 5’9”, 200 pounds, last seen wearing a black shirt and brown pants.
RELIEF FROM THE HEAT: With heat index values expected to be between 100° and 110° this week, the City has collected information on Cooling Centers in the area. If you must be outside, please remember to limit your outdoor activity, wear and reapply sunscreen, pace your activities, drink more water than usual, and wear loose, light weight, light-colored clothing.
BEAT THE HEAT: Area kids will have a new way to beat the heat this week thanks to a new concept being introduced by the Rockford Fire Department the City of Rockford Water Department – Hydrant Parties. The department created a large sprinkler system, which is connected to a hydrant. Hydrant Parties will take place in cul-de-sacs or in blocked off streets. With the hottest weather of the year expected this week, the goal is to help children cool off and have some fun.

We are investigating a report of an attempted armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver around 2:30 a.m. this morning in the 1000 block of Sixth Street. The delivery driver reported three suspects attempted to rob him while armed with guns, but the driver was able to escape unharmed without the suspects taking anything from him.
One individual has been arrested and we are still looking for two additional suspects. The ongoing investigation is very preliminary, and we will release additional information when we are able

3 suspects 1 with a gun, 1 w/m, 1 b/m, 1 light skin b/m or h/m, all wearing black. The light skin one had the gun all 3 looked to be teens.
