Rock County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce our continued collaboration with Special Olympics Wisconsin to host for the sixth consecutive year the Rock County Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Law Enforcement Torch Run events raise funds and support for Special Olympics Wisconsin, which provides year-round sports opportunities for more than 10,000 Wisconsin athletes, of any age and skill level, with intellectual disabilities. During these events, Law Enforcement Officers carry the Special Olympics Torch across Wisconsin in order to kick off the State Summer Games held June 6-8 at UW-Stevens Point.
The 2019 Rock County Law Enforcement Torch Run starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and proceeds eastbound on East U.S. Highway 14 to the parking lot of the Jimmy John’s on Milton Avenue, which is approximately 2 miles. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the back parking lot of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Knudson invites the public to attend this community event in a show of support for Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes and the Law Enforcement Officers participating in the run. Community members can participate in the event as a runner, walker, or spectator. There is no entry fee for this event; however, run t-shirts will be available for purchase at a cost of $15 each. All proceeds from t-shirt sales go directly to Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Jimmy John’s on Milton Avenue graciously agreed to donate free sandwiches for participants of the 2019 Rock County Law Enforcement Torch Run.
