Rockford Scanner™: Several Kids Use Their Bikes To Run Over A Teen Girl In Loves Park

Sources are reporting a scene at the Maple Elementary School in Loves Park.

It happened around 6:30 pm tonight at the Maple Elementary School in loves Park.

Sources said several kids used their bicycles and ran over a 13 year old girl. Injuring the young girl. We been told the injuries might be serious, but not confirmed.

Loves Park Police are investigating.

RS Source said “The chase was after me. I was chased down at gunpoint by the car, he pulled next to me, said if I call the cops I’m fucking dead and he chased me all the way until the police got to me and he fled police. Two men were chasing me at gunpoint. Lucky to be alive. Both involved were arrested.”

Sources are reporting a police chase on the East side.

It happened around 4:30 pm today at Guilford and Mulford.

Approx. 20 police officers are on scene.
A Red SUV is reported to have fled from police and it ended near this location.

Medical was needed at the scene. We been told an officer sustained a hand injury. Police have yet to release information on this, so can only confirm a person injured. But can not confirm if it is the officer or a suspect that was injured.

Police K-9’s were searching the area.

It happened on RT 2 near Roscoe.

The victim has died. The fire is under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sources are reporting a house fire on the East side.

It happened around 3 am at 801 18th st, across from Church Hill Park.

Reports of smoke coming from the house, and flames were seen in the windows.  RFD is on scene laying a booster line to battle the fire.

UPDATE: At least one person has been located inside the residence. Injuries were being reported. Reported to be life threatening and possibly fatal.

There are holes in the floor of the residence. They are telling the firefighters to use extreme caution while battling the fire.

Animal control has been dispatched to the scene.
Sources said 3 pets died in the fire.

Sources are reporting a robbery at a local bar.

It happened just before midnight at 2315 Harrison ave.
That is located at Victory Tap.

Reports of a suspect armed with a gun, committed an armed robbery at this location. It is not yet known if it was to the business or to a citizen.

No suspect information at this time.

Update:  RPD confirmed the armed robbery but did not provide any details. After we posted this, the bar owner contacted us and said there was no robbery.

It happened in the 3100 block of Parkside ave around 11:25 pm.

A person was reported to have been stabbed near this location. Unknown on the severity of the injuries at the time of writing this. No suspect information.


Rockford Scanner™: Man Laying in The Roadway Bleeding, In Rockford

Sources are reporting a scene near the 700 block of Whitman.

A man was bleeding from the head and laying in the roadway on Whitman and not moving. Sources said the man was involved in an altercation just prior. Injuries are believed to be non life threatening.

Rockford Scanner™: Coast Guard names field house after first black coach

(AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard Academy has named a field house after the school’s first African-American coach.

The facility, part of Roland Hall gymnasium, has been named the Dr. Hallie Gregory Field House.

Gregory, a Rockford, Illinois-native, began teaching and coaching at the academy in 1971. He became the head track coach in 1980, head basketball coach in 1984 and later served as an assistant athletic director.

He was inducted into the Coast Guard Academy Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Gregory was also the first African-American teacher at Guilford High School in Rockford and the first African-American coach at Moorhead State College in Moorhead, Minnesota.

He died in 2017.
