Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that James V. Doyle (D.O.B. 8/11/1989) pled guilty First Degree Murder and Concealing a Homicidal Death in front of the Honorable Judge Joseph McGraw. As part of the plea, Doyle was sentenced to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and he will be on Mandatory Supervised Release for three years once he is released from prison.
On April 13th, 2015, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police began to investigate after a missing person report was filed regarding 26 year old Moheb Diab. Diab’s mother told police that she hadn’t seen or heard from her son for more than 24 hours.
On April 17th, Diab’s vehicle was located in a parking lot in the 5300 Block of Forest Hills Court. Detectives conducted a follow up investigation, and during an interview with Doyle he admitted to shooting Diab, and concealing the victim’s body in the basement of his home.
Police found the victim’s body in a closet at Doyle’s residence at 7702 Eastmont Avenue in Loves Park.
First Degree Murder is a Class M Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 20-60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. The defendant was sentenced to 25 years in the Department of Corrections and three years of Mandatory Supervised Release. This sentence will be served at 100%.
Concealment of a Homicidal Death is a Class 3 Felony that is punishable by a sentence of 2-5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years in the Department of Corrections followed by a year of Mandatory Supervised Release. This sentence will be served at 50%.
One Vehicle Roll Over
On 04/16/19 at 5:42 PM the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office along with the LSR and Rochelle Fire Departments responded to a one vehicle roll over crash on Rte 64 just east of Hwy 251.
Investigation by Deputies revealed that a west bound vehicle driven by Rebecca Spring, age 32 of Davis Junction, went off the north side of the roadway and overturned.
Spring and her two minor children were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Rockford. A passenger, Wendall Reves, age 32 also of Davis Junction, was transported to Rochelle Hospital.
All of the injuries appeared to be non life threatening. Investigation is continued by the Sheriff’s Office.

Power outage earlier today near 173 and West ln. Unknown on the cause of the power outage at the time of writing this
Reports of numerous police surrounding the area of the 1000 block of Broadway. We been told there was a serious incident that took place, but RPD has yet to release information. We been told there was a robbery and the victim was injured during the robbery (Possibly shot)
