Rain will spread east-northeast into the area early this evening. Scattered showers are possible ahead of the widespread rain. Some of this rain will be heavy at times, especially along and south of I-80, where over an inch of rain is expected through Saturday morning.
Expect the onset of precipitation over the western/southwestern portions of the area in the early evening and then spreading rapidly east and north through the remainder of the evening and overnight. The highest precipitation amounts should be generally south of the I-80 corridor where 1.0” to 1.5” is likely. There could be some localized flooding if there are thunderstorms or in low lying areas. Portions of the Illinois, Kankakee and Iroquois river basins could be under the higher precipitation amounts which could cause renewed flooding.
