Rochelle PD

As you know today’s weather has been very windy and lots of flooding going on.  Comed has been dealing with power outages all day. At the time of writing this, there is good news. Only 200 customers are without power.

Strong winds has caused havoc in the area.  Power lines down, large vehicle blown off the roadways or rolled over, tree have fell, debris from buildings have fallen, etc…

And we are experiencing flooding issues.  Some roads have flooded out and some basements have flooded in the area.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect this afternoon. Westerly wind gusts of 45-62 mph will remain common before easing through tonight. There are hazardous travel conditions for high profile vehicles right now, especially on north-south oriented roads. Isolated wind damage and power outages have been reported and this will continue to be a threat for the afternoon and evening.

Through midnight, sustained winds to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are likely. This will result in minor tree damage and sporadic power outages, and make for difficult travel particularly on north-south roads.

Temperatures will continue to drop through the night, reaching lows near 0° for locations west of the Fox Valley and north of I-80. Lows will be 5° to 10° for the rest of the area. Winds will still be gusting to 20 to 30 mph at daybreak, with wind chill readings for the colder locations low as -15°. There is a chance of light snow Monday night and Tuesday mainly north of I-80, with the possibility of some light freezing rain Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
