MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST SATURDAY 

Expect slippery roads, possible power outages, slippery sidewalks.

* WHAT…Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of up
to two tenths of an inch expected.

* WHERE…Winnebago, Boone, McHenry and Ogle Counties.

* WHEN…From midnight tonight to 9 AM CST Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Temperatures are expected to climb above
freezing during Saturday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain
will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads. Slow down
and use caution while driving.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. East wind around 5 mph.
Tonight
A slight chance of snow and freezing rain before 3am, then freezing rain. Low around 27. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Saturday
Freezing rain before 9am, then rain likely. High near 39. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible.
Saturday Night
Rain before 3am, then rain and snow likely. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 30. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday
Rain and snow likely before 8am, then a slight chance of snow between 8am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Windy, with a west wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

DISCUSSION…

Freezing rain will develop overnight and transition to rain
Saturday morning. There could be a brief period of ice
accumulation, especially in areas north of I-80 and northwest
of I-55. Areas northwest of a line from Ogle to McHenry
counties are expected to see the most accumulation.

Freezing rain is possible early Saturday, then there is a
chance of thunderstorms toward evening. Very strong and
