MURDER SUSPECT IN CUSTODY: The second suspect wanted in connection to a November 2018 murder is now in custody. On Monday, February 11, 2019, Antonio Sago II turned himself in on a Murder warrant related to the deadly shooting at the Citgo gas station (4315 Auburn Street).

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, shortly before 1:00 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the parking lot of the Citgo gas station. During the course of the investigation, officers located a 37-year-old female shooting victim, Jennifer Jones, who died as a result of her injuries. A second gunshot victim, a 25-year-old male, was also located and treated at a local hospital.

The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and charges were authorized against three suspects: Marquell Longs, Antonio Sago II, and Devontai Dodson. Longs and Sago are both lodged in the Winnebago County Jail on $10 million dollar bonds. Dodson is still at large
