Police are investigating a house that was struck by gunfire.

On Tuesday February 5, 2019 at about 0125 hours Officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the area of 400 Oakley Ave. reference shots fired.  Upon arrival Officers located a residence struck by gunfire.  No one was injured.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rockford Police or Winnebago County Crime Stoppers.

Sources are reporting an auto accident with injuries and extrication is needed to cut someone out of the vehicle.

It happened around 4:05 pm today in the parking lot of Rockford Memorial Hospital.

A vehicle has hit many vehicles, sounds like in lot S-4 (Not confirmed)

No information on the extent of the injuries.

ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM
3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY

* WHAT…Significant icing expected due to freezing rain. Ice
accumulations of two tenths to four tenths of an inch expected.
Snow and sleet may mix with the freezing rain late this
afternoon and this evening. Total snow and sleet accumulations
less then one inch expected.

* WHERE…Winnebago, Boone, Ogle and Lee Counties.

* WHEN…From 3 PM this afternoon to 6 AM CST Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Power outages and tree damage are possible
due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible on untreated
surfaces. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the
evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

An Ice Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice
accumulation will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is
strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Snapped power lines and falling tree branches are also
possible.

SHOTS FIRED ARREST: On Monday, February 4, 2019, Rockford Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1100 block of North Sunset Avenue. Officers located the home where several shots had been fired. The residents of the home told officers that the suspect who fired the gun, later identified as 23-year-old Ernesto Sanchez, was still inside. After several hours, officers were able to make contact with Sanchez, and he surrendered peacefully. Sanchez was taken into custody, and a gun was located inside the home.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the below listed charges against Sanchez.

Ernesto Sanchez, 23, Rockford: Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Violation of Firearms Owner Identification Card

Sanchez was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Sanchez are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
