From our friends at Beloit scanner: Just before 10 PM tonight there is a serious automobile accident in the Beloit area.

A van has slid under a semi in the area of Freeman Parkway and Milwaukee.

Injuries are being reported,  reported to be unresponsive.
Unconfirmed reports are saying this is a fatal accident.

This is still developing please avoid the area

Update:  1 person in the van is confirmed fatal. State Recon is on scene


A fatal accident that occurred at 9:46 p.m. Saturday is under investigation at the intersection of Milwaukee Road and Freeman Parkway in the City of Beloit.

Two vehicles were involved, a semi truck and a minivan. The driver of the minivan, a 56-year-old man, was pronounced deceased on scene. His name is not being released at this time. The driver of the semi truck was uninjured. No other individuals were involved in the accident.

The Wisconsin State Patrol completed the accident reconstruction and the investigation is ongoing. Witness statements advised that the driver of the minivan was headed westbound on Milwaukee Road when he ran the red light and then hit the semi truck.

Areas of dense fog will continue to develop over the area this evening and continue overnight. Some improvement is possible by Sunday morning. Travelers should expect to encounter low visibilities of a quarter mile or less across the area tonight.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Dense Fog
Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM CST /10 AM EST/ Sunday.

* VISIBILITY…a quarter mile or less.

* IMPACTS…Reduced visibilities will result in hazardous driving
conditions tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving…slow down…
use your headlights…and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Sources are reporting the Rockford Fire Department is working a scene on the West side.

It happened this afternoon at an apartment on Trilling.
That is just West of the Riverside bridge.

Reports of a water pipe burst and caused a lot of damage to the apartment building.

Residents were going to be evacuated and the City Human Services Department was going to assist.

It happened this morning in the area of Montague and Rose.

Unknown what happened at this time.
Sources are saying this is a police standoff.

RPD has said no comment at this time.

SERIOUS ACCIDENT: On Saturday, February 2, 2019 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the area of Broadway and Parkside Drive for a two-vehicle car crash. Officers learned a 71-year-old Rockford man driving an SUV, and a 51-year-old Rockford woman also driving an SUV, collided in the intersection. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital and both are in critical condition. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

The Rockford Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Team is on scene investigating. Please avoid the area.

The Rockford Police Department advises you to AVOID the intersection of Broadway and Parkside due to current traffic congestion. A serious crash investigation at Broadway and Parkside will cause traffic backups and detours for the next several hours.

We been told the injuries are life threatening and possibly fatal.
