Rockford Scanner™: 6 individuals were arrested for a burglary

During the week of January 21, 2019, six individuals were arrested for a burglary which occurred in rural Boone County.

Christopher Hernes, 20 years old of Belvidere, was charged with one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony). Hernes remains in the Boone County Jail on a $50,000.00 (10%) bond.

Jordan Bush, 19 years old of Belvidere, was charged with one count Burglary (Class 2 Felony). Bush was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $5,000.00 (10%) bond.

Anthony Schulter, 18 years old of Sycamore, was charged with one count Burglary (Class 2 Felony). Schulter was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $5,000.00 (10%) bond.

Joseph Merema, 18 years old of Sycamore, was charged with one count Burglary (Class 2 Felony). Merema was released from the DeKalb County Jail after posting a $10,000.00 (10%) bond.

Two juveniles, a male and a female were also charged with one count of Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and one count of Theft (Class 4 Felony). Both juveniles were processed and released to their parents.

On December 09, 2018, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary in the 10000 block of Loveridge Road, Garden Prairie. Multiple Tools and tractor parts were stolen from an outbuilding.

On January 18, 2019, after a six week investigation, Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for the six individuals. Most of the property stolen was recovered by investigators.

The investigation continues and additional charges are possible. A class 2 felony is punishable by three (3) to seven (7) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 4 felony is punishable by one (1) to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sources are reporting a victim was shot this afternoon.

Sources said a person was shot in the hand in the 7400 block of  Best rd.
That is in Pecatonica.

Unknown if it is self inflicted, or suspect information.

Update: After we posted this. Someone said he was not shot, but the gun somehow exploded in his hand.  Unconfirmed.

Police said this was a medical assist call.

No other details at this time.

RS Fan Riley Koziol is reporting a hit and run accident.

Hit and run on Church and Reynolds just before 2 pm.
A Plow Truck blew the stop sign and hit this car head on.
Witnesses say he was going at least 50 mph

The plow truck then fled the scene.

Alert: Wind Chill Warning until 12:00PM Thursday

Near to RECORD cold is still incoming — little to no change to the midweek forecast.

Both Rockford and Chicago are likely to set multiple cold temperature records this week, including potentially the all time low for Rockford and the coldest daytime highs for both locations. Brutally cold wind chills also are expected Tuesday evening through Thursday morning.


* WHAT…Light snow and areas of blowing snow this afternoon. Dangerously cold wind chills expected. Wind chills 20 to 30 below Tuesday and as low as 55 below zero expected Tuesday night through Thursday morning.

* WHERE…Portions of northwest Indiana and north central and northeast Illinois.

* WHEN…For the Wind Chill Warning, from 6 PM Tuesday to noon CST Thursday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 6 PM CST this evening. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 4 AM to 6 PM CST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.

Instructions:

A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frostbite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Rockford Scanner™: An Argument Leads To A Man Being Arrested For A Gun In Rockford

On Friday, January 25, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to a home in the 2000 block of Fulton Avenue for a gun complaint.

Officers learned the suspect, later identified as Ceasar Banks, had made violent threats to the victim, a 25-year-old female whom he a relationship with, during an argument.

Officers later located Banks driving in the 1300 block of 5th Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers found Banks to be in possession of a handgun and subsequently took him into custody.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized the below listed charges against Banks.

Ceasar Banks, 53, Rockford: Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (2 Counts), Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon.

Banks was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Banks are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

WEEKEND INCIDENTS SUMMARY:

SHOTS FIRED: On Sunday, January 27, 2019, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 400 block of North Horsman Street. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles struck by gunfire. No one was hurt. The suspect vehicle is described a silver sedan.


SHOTS FIRED: On Saturday, January 26, 2019 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers were called to the 2300 block of Jonathon Avenue in reference to shots fired. Officers located a vehicle and garage struck by gunfire. No one was hurt. No suspect information is available.


ARMED ROBBERY: On Saturday, January 26, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Rockford Police officers responded to an armed robbery that took place in the parking lot of Schnucks (2642 Charles Street). Officers learned the victim used the ATM inside the business. As he was leaving, an armed male suspect approached the victim in the parking lot. The suspect then demanded the victim’s money and phone. The victim was not hurt. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’7”, 150 pounds and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.


SHOTS FIRED: On Saturday, January 26, 2019 at approximately 3:45 a.m., Rockford Police officers were called to the 900 block of 17th Street in reference to shots fire. Officers observed a building and a vehicle had been struck by gunfire. No one was hurt.
