On Thursday, January 24, 2019, shortly after 2:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the intersection of West State Street and Pierpont Avenue for a two-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, officers learned a red car, traveling southbound on Pierpont Avenue, ran a red light.

The car then collided with a burgundy minivan, traveling eastbound on West State Street.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old female, and two adult male occupants of the minivan were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed at this time that alcohol likely played a role in the accident.

It happened around 2:10 pm today near the area of W State and Pierpont.

There is an auto accident near this location.

A vehicle is on fire and someone is trapped inside the vehicle.

Several emergency personnel are en route.

UPDATE: No fire. Three ambulances dispatched.
