A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet
and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

A wintry mix of freezing rain, snow and sleet will spread across the area late this morning into the afternoon. Expect the precipitation to change over to mainly freezing rain for the afternoon and much of the evening south of a line from Dixon to Elgin to Waukegan. North of this line, much of the precipitation will remain in the form of snow through tonight. Plan for slippery conditions on area roadways and walkways today into Wednesday morning, with impacts expected for the evening commute

A Wintry mix of freezing rain, rain, and snow will spread across the area today through tonight, creating hazardous conditions across much of the area. Temperatures will gradually warm through the day, with high temperatures actually occurring during the evening. As temperatures fall overnight into Wednesday, any remaining precipitation will change over to snow. Colder conditions will then arrive for Thursday.
