Lottie Flowers

On February 23, 2002 Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 730 Newport for a medical assist call.  Upon arrival they found the victim, Lottie Flowers, 71 years old in the living room on the home with multiple stab wounds.  Mrs. Flowers was transported to the hospital where she later died.

Mrs. Flowers was very active in her church and also delivered newspapers at Rockford Memorial Hospital.  She had been at the hospital earlier that morning.

Mrs. Flowers lived in the house with her husband, son and grandson.  She was very well know and loved by all who knew her.

CLARENCE OWENS & EVERETTE HAWLEY

Clarence Owens, aged 65 and Everette Hawley, aged 75 were last seen at a farm auction near the Winnebago-Ogle County line on February 19, 1976.

An intense multi-agency investigation involved Stephenson County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department.

Their bodies have not been found.

CONNIE R. HEERDT

Connie R. Heerdt of Rockford was found murdered on Tuesday January 15, 1991 at 10:44 a.m. in the parking lot behind Doyle’s Circle K Lounge, 3911 Sandy Hollow Road.

The Winnebago County Coroner concluded the cause of death to be asphyxia due to manual strangulation.

An investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department determined that Connie worked as a prostitute in the area.

On Saturday January 30, 2016 at 2:05 a.m., Treesa Wiley, 35 years old, was shot to death after entry was forced into a home in the 1300 block of Carbaugh Avenue in the outskirts of the northwest side of Rockford.

Treesa, a teacher at a local daycare center, was at this home visiting a friend who survived gunshot wounds.

West winds will increase to 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph this afternoon and continue into this evening.

The strongest winds look to be late this afternoon into this evening.

Strong west to northwest winds will develop today and usher in a much colder, more seasonable air mass today. Seasonably cold conditions return for the rest of the work week. Light snow is likely by the start of the weekend.
