On Wednesday, December 19, 2018, Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Poplar Grove man on multiple child sex offenses.

Daniel Dye, 69 years old of Poplar Grove, was charged with one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child (Class X Felony) and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony). Dye was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $500,000.00 (10%) bond.

The arrest of Dye came after it was reported he had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13.  Boone County Sheriff’s Detectives investigated the case along with the Anchorage (Alaska) Police Department.

The investigation continues and additional charges are possible. A class X felony is punishable by six (6) to sixty (60) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 2 felony is punishable by three (3) to seven (7) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone having information on a crime or narcotic trafficking to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 815-544-2144 or Crime Stoppers at 815-547-7867.

Members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sources are reporting some more bad accidents in the area tonight.

  • There is a bad accident in the area of Kilburn and Springfield. One of the vehicles is reported to be in a nearby field. Injuries are being reported.
  • Accident on Harrison and South Mall drive. A car was turning and a truck allegedly ran a red light and hit the smaller car. Injuries are reported.


  • Alpine and Newberg
  • Here is an update from the RPD on a recent accident: On Wednesday December 19th, 2018 at 7:28pm, Rockford Officer’s responded to 3201 Gilbert Ave in reference to an attempted robbery. Through further investigation, they learned that the suspect called in a pizza delivery for that address and attempted to rob the pizza delivery person in the parking lot. The suspect held a loaded rifle magazine in his hand, pointed it at the delivery person, and demanded property from him. A struggle ensued between both individuals prior to the suspect fleeing on foot southbound. No property was taken and the victim was not injured. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 27-35 years of age, 5’08”, 155 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.This is an on-going investigation. It happened on S Main near the airport just before 3:30 pm.

A vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

Hello! I was wondering if you were able to make a post about the car accident that happened on 9th and Harrison yesterday right before 2pm to see if there were any witnesses. Because I was in the accident and the lady that hit me ran the red light, but there are no calls into 911 or anything. And I was just wondering if you were able to help. Thank you.

Around 2 pm today, sources were reporting there is a bad accident in Rockford.

It happened in the area of 9th and Harrison.

Multiple injuries are being reported. At least 3 ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.  Unknown on the severity of the injuries.

Sounds like most of the intersection is blocked off, so please avoid the area.

The worst of the accidents is located on Guilford,  Between Alpine and Mulford. There is an accident with injuries and police have shut down the roadway. Sounds like the injuries are pretty serious via sources.

Around 7:30 pm the JPD went to Mercy Hospital for a stabbing victim. The victim was stabbed in his hand by his girlfriend. The stabbing  happened in the 1400 block of Gartland.
