UPDATE #2 – SUSPECT ARRESTED

December 2, 2018

The suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing on campus Saturday night has been arrested.

Abdul Raymond Olajide Danyiwo, was arrested by police Sunday evening in Lansing, Ill. He was charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felonies) and one count of Burglary (a Class 1 Felony) for illegally entering the building with intent to commit a crime.

UPDATE #1 – SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AND WARRANT ISSUED

The Northern Illinois University Police Department (NIUPD), in concert with the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office, has issued a warrant for the arrest of Abdul Raymond Olajide Danyiwo, of Lansing, Illinois for two (2) counts of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felonies).

According to authorities, Danyiwo allegedly got into an altercation with another man at a residence hall, stabbed him several times and then fled the area. The victim was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital and treated for his injuries. Neither the victim nor the assailant are NIU students or affiliated with the university. The two men were known to each other and the attack was the result of an ongoing dispute.

Danyiwo is described as an 18- year-old, dark-skinned male, 5’9” tall, weighing 145 pounds. When last seen he was wearing a black Adidas jacket. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the NIUPD (815) 753-1212 or the appropriate police jurisdiction. NIU Police are investigating an aggravated battery that occurred on December 1, 2018, at approximately 9:39 p.m. in Grant North C Tower. The victim reported that an individual armed with a knife assaulted him. The subject left the building and fled the area.

The suspect is described as follows:

Dark skinned male, 18 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches, weighing approximately 145 pounds, wearing black shoes, black hat and a black jacket.

No other information is available.

  • June Reaves is reporting there is numerous police that are working a scene near Broadway and Woodruff (Viaduct area)   Reports are saying there is an auto accident with injuries near this location. We got reports they may have been a police chase just prior to the accident, but not confirmed. June is reporting police have the area blocked off, you want to avoid the area.
  • Alpine and Harrison, a vehicle rear ended another vehicle. Injuries reported.

One Vehicle Rollover Accident

On December 2, 2018 at 4:53 AM the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Linscott Rock Fire Department, and Linscott Rock Ambulance responded to a one vehicle rollover accident with injuries in the 15,000 block East Holcomb Rd.
A white Ford Fusion was eastbound on Holcomb Rd when the driver Jacob Doane, age 20 of Davis Junction, failed to negotiate the curve in the road.  Doane’s vehicle left the north side of Holcomb Rd, striking a tree, and rolling over on its roof.
  Doane was transported to Swedish American Hospital by Linscott Rock Ambulance with minor injuries.  The accident remains under investigation.

Rockford Scanner™: Train Accident South of Byron

On 12/2/2018 at approximately 8:56 AM Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies, Oregon EMS, and Oregon Fire Department responded to the 2400 block of South Rocky Hollow Road at the BNSF Railroad tracks in reference to a train vs truck accident.  Upon arrival, Deputies learned Jeff Pruski, age 43 of Sandwich was driving a 2015 Chevy Colorado and was stopped facing southbound on Rocky Hollow Road just north of the tracks as the train was approaching.  Pruski then drove southbound around the gate arm which was working properly just as the train was approaching the intersection traveling westbound.  The train then struck the driver’s side of the truck and was pushed just off the northwest side of the roadway before coming to rest.  Pruski was transported to Mercyhealth Hospital in Rockford in critical yet stable condition.  The accident remains under investigation.

Mrs. Hounsell, age 65, was found murdered in her home at 6441 Alice Lane in Rockton, Illinois on December 27, 2008. She was found in the basement with a stab wound to the neck.

The home is in a rural area and there was no sign of forced entry. Mrs. Hounsell was a widow and lived alone in the home.

Family members described Mrs. Hounsell as a very likable person with a generous spirit.
