On Thursday November 8th at 9:00pm, Rockford Officers responded to the Tobacco Outlet located at 3219 N. Main St in reference to an armed robbery.  The suspect was armed with a long gun and demanded money from the clerk whom complied.  The suspect fled eastbound on foot from the business.  There was a customer exiting the business as the suspect entered into it.  No injuries were reported.

This is an ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department at (815) 966-2900 or Rockford Area Crime Stoppers (815) 963-7867.

 


Around 9 pm tonight sources were reporting an armed robbery to a Rockford business.

A tobacco store in the 3200 block of N Main was robbed at gunpoint.

A man wearing a Halloween mask and armed with a shotgun, robbed the store then fled on foot.

Light accumulating snow will spread across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana shortly after midnight tonight and continue into mid to late Friday morning.

Total accumulations of around 1 inch are expected on primarily elevated and grassy surfaces, but slippery conditions on paved surfaces will be possible.

This includes during the Friday morning commute, so allow for extra time to reach your destination

On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sycamore man on nineteen felony charges resulting from a double fatality accident which occurred on March 26, 2018.

Corey Lee, 30 years old of Sycamore, Illinois was charged with three counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Cannabis – Accident Resulting in Death (Class 2 Felony), two counts of On Duty and Under the Influence of Cannabis – Causing Death (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Violation of Physical Qualifications – On Duty and Under the Influence of Cannabis – Causing Death (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Violation of Physical Qualifications – No Medical Certification – Causing Death (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Operating While Fatigued – Causing Death (Class 3 Felony), two counts of Violation of Inspection Requirements – Causing Death (Class 3 Felony), one count of Violation of Physical Qualifications – On Duty and Under the Influence of Cannabis (Class 4 Felony), one count of Violation of Physical Qualifications – No Medical Certification (Class 3 Felony), one count of Operating While Fatigued (Class 4 Felony) and one count of Violation of Inspection Requirements (Class 3 Felony). Lee was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $250,000.00 (10%) bond.

On March 26, 2018 at approximately 6:30 am, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Stone Quarry Road and Bloods Point Road in rural Boone County. The investigation revealed that Cory Lee, who was driving westbound on Bloods Point Road in a 2015 Ford Commercial Truck, failed to stop at a stop sign. Lee’s vehicle entered the intersection striking a 2004 Dodge Dakota, which was traveling southbound on Stone Quarry Road. The driver of the Dodge Dakota, Pedro Pasillas Delgado, 22 years old, and his father, Pedro Pasillas Sanchez, 52 years old, were both killed.

The arrest of Lee came after a seven month investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was completed and turned over to the Boone County States Attorney’s Office. On November 1, 2018, a Boone County Grand Jury indicted Lee on the nineteen felony charges.

The class 2 felony is punishable by six (6) to twenty-eight (28) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 3 felony is punishable by two (2) to five (5) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A class 4 felony is punishable by one (1) to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone having information on a crime or narcotic trafficking to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 815-544-2144 or Crime Stoppers at 815-547-7867.

Members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Rockford Scanner®: Man Arrested For Business Robbery & Hostage Situation

On 11/7/2018 at 01:45 am officers responded to 5 Points Grocery and Beverage at 600 W Milwaukee St for an armed robbery. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded currency from the clerk. The suspect stole items from the convenience store and currency. The person then fled from the business leaving items behind, which aided in the identification of the suspect. Officers were able to determine the suspect was Carlos Ford.

On 11/7/2018 at 04:19 am officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of N Sumac. The response was to a call of a hostage situation.

The suspect in this second call was determined to be Carlos Ford. Officers made contact with Ford and a female when they exited the residence. Ford resisted arrest, but was able to be taken into custody.

One officer did sustain a minor injury while taking Ford into custody. There is still additional information being followed up on in regards to this investigation.

UPDATE: One person has been injured. Burn to the hand. Unknown if it is an emergency personnel who was injured, or if it was the resident. Flames are confirmed and RFD laying a booster line to battle the house fire.

Around 10 AM several emergency personnel were responding to a house fire in Rockford.

Initial reports are saying there’s a house fire in the 600 block of Alliance. Smoke and flames are reported coming from the house.

Unknown at the houses occupied at this time.

It is not yet known on the severity of the injuries. We have been told by a source, non life threatening injuries. But cannot yet confirm  this.
