Rockford Scanner™: Rockford fire department battling another apartment complex fire


Just after 3:30 PM the Rockford fire department were responding to a possible apartment fire.

There is reports of one of the apartments inside the apartment complex on fire, near the Orchard Hills Apartments near  Charles Street.

Smoke is visible at the scene. Several units from the Rockford fire department are in route. This is still developing

They are laying a booster line to battle the fire, there is a confirmed fire. But was quickly under control. Still developing.

Just after 3 pm today, the Rockford Fire Department were responding to an explosion call.

We missed the exact location, but it was in Rockford (Rockford Fire Department responding)

A man lit a cigarette near an oxygen tank. The oxygen tank exploded. The man has burns on has face and is having trouble breathing.

It happened in the are of Jefferson and E State st

From the NWS: Look for a soaking rain tonight behind a cold front that will bring an end to today’s mild temperatures. A return to dry weather is expected tomorrow with seasonable temperatures.

There is a small chance of some showers moving across the region this morning into the early afternoon, mainly north of I-80. Any rain through early afternoon would be short lived in any one location. More widespread rain will overspread the region from the north late this afternoon into this evening. Away from the rain, look for mild temps today with highs near 60 along the Wisconsin border to around 70 south of I-80.


Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested After Allegedly Robbing A Local Business



ROBBERY ARREST: A Rockford man faces charges after robbing a business. On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 shortly after 2:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Dollar General (1015 Charles Street).

Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect entered the store and handed a note to the cashier, which demanded money and implied he was armed. The suspect then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident and identified the suspect as 34-year-old Donald Thompson. As a result, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges and a warrant was obtained. Thompson was taken into custody.

Thompson was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Thompson are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court


Rockford Scanner™: 7 Men Beat & Rob A Single Victim In Rockford.



RPD:  Rockford Police say they were on patrol in the 200 block of South 6th Street on Saturday when they found a 25-year-old man lying in the grass, who had been beaten and robbed by a group of seven men.

According to police, around 5 p.m. officers spotted the victim lying in the grass just south of 1st Avenue.

The victim told officers that he had been walking in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue when seven men approached him and demanded his belongings. They then beat and robbed him.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Descriptions of the assailants were not given.

Police said this was an “In Progress Person”  In the past police have labeled shootings, stabbings, robberies, kidnappings, deaths; as these types of calls.

The second scene was near the 5300 block of Northrock around 10 pm. Police said that there was an aggravated battery.

The third scene is near the 3300 block of Bildahl around 7:45 pm.

The fourth scene was in the 1500 block of Benton around 5 pm. Police said this was a weapons violation.
