Weapons violation near 3411 Wesleyan ave in Rockford.

RPD:   Someone put a couple of Swastikas  on the windows of the Coronado Theater.

Police say they responded to a criminal defacement report at the Coronado around noon Tuesday. Someone put graffiti (the Swastikas) on a couple of the windows of the Coronado Theater.  They have since been removed, and have not caused permanent damage

“Graffiti and criminal defacement that is deemed inflammatory in nature, like Nazi swastikas, will be thoroughly investigated especially given some of the recent national incidents,” said Chief Dan O’Shea. “We will hold those responsible accountable for their actions.”

WCSO: Meet our two additions to the K9 Unit; Sadie and Nancy Drew. We want to thank the anonymous donor for the donation to purchase the K9’s. We also want to thank Crime Stoppers for facilitating the donation.

October 3, 2018 0930 hours​
Deputy Fey and K-9 Diego
​responded to Harrison and Kishwaukee where a 81 year old female who is an at-risk adult had ran from her husband’s vehicle while he was taking her to a doctor’s appointment. K-9 located the track which led several blocks north of the location. Based on the direction of travel, the subject was located and returned to family.

September 7, 2018 1555 hours ​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff​
​responded to the 500 block of Ralston Road in Machesney Park for report of an 80 year old male who is an at-risk adult and who has wondered from the home in the past. K-9 located the track which led over a mile east of the home. Based on direction of travel from K-9, subject was located and returned home.

August 24, 2018 0849 hours ​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff
​responded to the 14,000 block of South Bluff Road in South Beloit for a report of a 15 year old male who was threatening suicide and had fled on foot from the home. K-9 located the track which led into a forest preserve approximately 1.5 miles from the home. Subject was located by K-9. Subject had injured himself prior to being located, but was safely transported to the hospital for treatment.

August 22, 2018 1614 hours​
Deputy Fey and K-9 Diego
​responded to 5000 block of Hauley Road for a missing 3 year old female. Family had already searched the property and were unable to locate the child. K-9 located the track leading from the home into a nearby wooded area and backed onto the roadway. Child was located a short distance down the road.

August 8, 2018 1200 hours​
Deputy Pearson and K-9 Chico
​responded to Hononegah Forest Preserve for a report of a 31 year old female who had threatened suicide. Her vehicle had been located in the forest preserve. K-9 located the track which led ¾ mile into the forest preserve where the subject was found attempting to commit suicide. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

June 23, 2018 2342 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to 2600 block of Bibury Road in New Milford for a 21 year old female suffering from a serious medical condition who had went for a walk 5 hours prior and not returned home. K-9 located the track which led over a mile to a nearby forest preserve. Subject was located in the forest preserve suffering from a medical condition. She was transported to hospital for treatment.

May 8, 2018 2319 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to the 14,000 block of Hunter’s Way for a report of an 8 year old male and 10 year old female who were missing from the home. The area had been searched by the family. K-9 located the track leading from the home and both children were located within two blocks of the residence.

December 3, 2017 1555 hours​
Deputy Metzler and K-9 Cliff
​responded to the area of Memorial Avenue and Virginia Avenue for a report of a 40 year old male subject who had threatened suicide and left the home on foot. K-9 located the track leading from the home. The track led several blocks and the subject was located unharmed.

April 30, 2017 2142 hours​
Deputy Warmoth and K-9 Ares
​responded to the 700 block of Sycamore in Machesney Park for a 75 year old male who is an at-risk adult who has wondered from the home in the past. During a thunderstorm, K-9 located the track which led from the house. Several blocks from the home, the subject was located hiding in a wooded area. He was returned to family.

With the addition of Sadie and Nancy Drew the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department will be able to offer assistance to surrounding agencies.

Rockford Scanner™: Suspect Robs A Rockford Business, Shooting Victim At A Rockford Hospital, More Violent Crimes In The Area

Another violent day in the city of Rockford and surrounding areas.

Sources told us about a shooting victim at Swedish American Hospital. Unknown if the shooting took place at the hospital or the victim was shot at a different location and then transported there.

Sources also told us about the Advanced Auto on Auburn that was robbed.

We tried to get information from the police, they said “No comment”

No suspect information on any of these calls. Safe to assume none have been captured and are still roaming the area.

But we can confirm these via the police call logs.


UPDATE from the RPD:

On Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 7:12pm, Rockford Officers responded to Advance Auto Parts located at 3019 Auburn St in reference to an aggravated robbery.  The suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded money from the clerk whom complied.  The suspect fled out to the parking lot, got into a vehicle, and drove away eastbound on Auburn St.  There were customers inside of the business during the incident but no injuries were reported.

Just after 3:30 PM the Rockford fire department were responding to a possible apartment fire.

There is reports of one of the apartments inside the apartment complex on fire, near the Orchard Hills Apartments near  Charles Street.

Smoke is visible at the scene. Several units from the Rockford fire department are in route. This is still developing

They are laying a booster line to battle the fire, there is a confirmed fire. But was quickly under control. Still developing.

Just after 3 pm today, the Rockford Fire Department were responding to an explosion call.

We missed the exact location, but it was in Rockford (Rockford Fire Department responding)

A man lit a cigarette near an oxygen tank. The oxygen tank exploded. The man has burns on has face and is having trouble breathing.

From the NWS: Look for a soaking rain tonight behind a cold front that will bring an end to today’s mild temperatures. A return to dry weather is expected tomorrow with seasonable temperatures.

There is a small chance of some showers moving across the region this morning into the early afternoon, mainly north of I-80. Any rain through early afternoon would be short lived in any one location. More widespread rain will overspread the region from the north late this afternoon into this evening. Away from the rain, look for mild temps today with highs near 60 along the Wisconsin border to around 70 south of I-80.

 







Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested After Allegedly Robbing A Local Business

ROBBERY ARREST: A Rockford man faces charges after robbing a business. On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 shortly after 2:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to Dollar General (1015 Charles Street).

Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect entered the store and handed a note to the cashier, which demanded money and implied he was armed. The suspect then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident and identified the suspect as 34-year-old Donald Thompson. As a result, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges and a warrant was obtained. Thompson was taken into custody.

Thompson was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charges against Thompson are merely accusations. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court

 







Rockford Scanner™: 7 Men Beat & Rob A Single Victim In Rockford.

RPD:  Rockford Police say they were on patrol in the 200 block of South 6th Street on Saturday when they found a 25-year-old man lying in the grass, who had been beaten and robbed by a group of seven men.

According to police, around 5 p.m. officers spotted the victim lying in the grass just south of 1st Avenue.

The victim told officers that he had been walking in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue when seven men approached him and demanded his belongings. They then beat and robbed him.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Descriptions of the assailants were not given.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Rockford Police at 815-966-2900.

The first scene was near the 2000 block of S Perryville. around 3:40 pm.
Police said this was an “In Progress Person”  In the past police have labeled shootings, stabbings, robberies, kidnappings, deaths; as these types of calls.

The second scene was near the 5300 block of Northrock around 10 pm. Police said that there was an aggravated battery.

The third scene is near the 3300 block of Bildahl around 7:45 pm.
Police said this was an “In Progress Person”  In the past police have labeled shootings, stabbings, robberies, kidnappings, deaths; as these types of calls. \

The fourth scene was in the 1500 block of Benton around 5 pm. Police said this was a weapons violation.

No suspect in any of these scenes, due to the encryption.

Around 3:30 PM Several emergency personnel were responding to two different house fire calls.

The first one had been in Loves Park Near Tupelo Rd. LPFD & NPFD Were responding to the scene. Initial reports are saying a dishwasher was on fire inside the residence. The fire was extinguished and the fire department is checking for extensions and ventilating the house. 

The second fire call happened in Rockford near 1319 21st st. Details are very minimal at the time of writing this but there is reports of a house on fire near this location. Several units from the Rockford fire department are in route to the scene.

UPDATE: Valid fire, but the RFD were able to get the situation under control pretty quickly. No injuries have been reported.

Both fire scenes are under investigation

RPD Charges a 46 Year Old Rockford Resident with 1st Degree Murder for Stabbing on Fawnridge DR

MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED: A Rockford man is now in custody following a murder on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to a residence in the 3500 block of Fawnridge Drive in reference to a fight. Upon arrival, officers located the resident, a 61-year-old male, suffering from stab wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. His name is not being released at this time.

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation, which led them to the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jerry Saylor. Saylor was taken into custody without incident early Monday morning. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case, and authorized the below listed charge against Saylor.

Jerry Saylor, 46, Rockford: First Degree Murder

The investigation at this time shows that the murder does not appear to be random as the victim and Saylor knew each other.

Saylor was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The charge against Saylor is merely an accusation. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
