Rockford Scanner™: Graveyard Thief Caught On Camera At A Local Cemetery

A source contacted us in regards to someone stealing items from their family members gravesite in a local cemetery.

It is happening at the Calvary Cemetery.

The victim passed away a day before his birthday on 12/16/2016.  The family frequently put items on the grave site of their loved one when they visited him.

Then in March 2017 they began to notice the items they were placing on the grave was coming up missing.

They talked to the staff at the cemetery and asked them if they were taking the items or knew what was happening.  That is when they realized there was a thief on the loose in the cemetery.

Security cameras placed in the cemetery was able to capture the alleged suspect stealing items from their loved ones grave site.

The local police were contacted and are investigating.

They need your help identifying this alleged grave yard thief!


 








Rockford Scanner™: Attempted Kidnapping In Rockford, Still Developing



Sources reporting an attempted kidnapping near Jefferson and Oakley in Rockford.  It happened around 5:30 pm

Details are minimal, due to the police encryption. 

Safe to assume the suspect got away and still roaming the streets of Rockford.  RPD has yet to release information. 


After posting this, we got reports from sources of another attempted kidnapping incident that happened in Rockford, on Thursday.  It happened near Welsh elementary.  Unknown if these incidents are related.

*UPDATE: Sources reporting the incident happened near N Church and Burton  and the suspect from this incident is described a man with purple hair in a red vehicle

Rockford Police has yet to release information on this incident as well.








Rockford Scanner™: Several bad accidents in the area today, Avoid the following areas

This afternoon several sources were reporting a couple bad accidents in the area.

The first one was line I 38 near mile marker 116 in the southbound lanes. Reports of a multiple semi pile up including one semi that possibly rolled over.

Another accident scene was in Machesney Park on 173 near Continental

Another accident scene was on Love Road in the Roscoe area

Another accident scene, this one requiring extrication. That is near  Brown and Court st in Rockford

All three accident scenes were reporting injuries it is not yet known and the severity of these injuries. You want to avoid these areas or expect traffic delays. The cause of these accidents are under investigation

Rockford Scanner™: Rockford Gets Federal Funding which will provide comprehensive services to aid victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), U.S. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL-17) and U.S. Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL-16) today joined Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara to announce that the City of Rockford has received $449,870 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women. The funding will allow Rockford to establish a Family Justice Center, which will provide comprehensive services to aid victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

The Family Justice Center (FJC) established with the help of this funding will provide victims of domestic violence with a single location to access resources and services. FJCs bring together law enforcement personnel, medical providers, prosecutors, social service representatives, and mental health professionals in a single location to provide victim-centered services to survivors and their families.

Specifically, Rockford will use the grant to:
• establish a strategic planning committee to oversee the implementation of the Family Justice Center;
• implement a multi-agency collaborative Family Justice Center that serves victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking;
• implement protocols to ensure sex trafficking victims are identified and referred for services;
• establish workgroups to implement the strategic planning committee’s plan; and,
• support both a Family Justice Center Project Manager and a Family Justice Center Director.

 

 








Rockford Scanner™: Man Arrested For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Three Juveniles

SEX ASSAULT ARREST: Since March of 2017, detectives from the Sensitive Crimes Unit have been conducting an investigation into a report of sexual assaults of three juvenile victims by a male family member.

The investigation includes incidents that happened as far back as 1997 when the suspect was a resident of Rockford. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the below listed charges.

Andrew Hale, 58, Springdale, Ark.: Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault (2 counts), Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault (2 counts)

Officers arrested Hale in Springdale and he was brought back to Rockford on Friday. Hale was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail with his bond set at $1 million. The charges against Hale are merely accusations. As in all criminal cases, the suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

 








Rockford Scanner™: Carjacking, Police Chase, Shots Fired in Rockford

Sources reported hearing multiple gunshots on the west side.

During the same time shots were fired, there was a carjacking at Green st and Johnston ave.

Shots were fired in the same general area of the carjacking.

Reports of people in two different vehicles shooting at each other.

Unknown if these incidents are related.

Police were chasing a vehicle on the west side a short time later, that ended near Winnebago and Garfield.

Numerous police officers were on scene.  RPD, ISP, WCSO. They had a large perimeter setup in the area.  Unknown what the suspects look like. At least one suspect was at large. They had a police K-9 assist in tracking the suspect, but was unsuccessful.

RPD did confirm a police chase and shots fired and the carjacking, but would not say if all these incidents were all related.

The vehicle ended up near the dead end of Garfield, just west of Winnebago in the eastbound lanes just before the stop sign.

Sources were reporting several officers out on foot searching the area of Liberty and Belden for shell casings, unknown if this is related to these incidents.
