Rockford Scanner™: RPD Releases Some Information On This Weekends Violence in Rockford

Aggravated Discharge: On Saturday, August 18 shortly after midnight, officers responded to the area of the 3500 block of Preston Street in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found more than a dozen spent casings and two homes that had been struck by gunfire. No one was hurt and there is no suspect information.

Home Invasion: At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to the 600 block of 17th street for a home invasion. There, officers learned three armed male suspects entered the house through a window and held up the two victims inside. The suspects left with electronics. No one was hurt. The suspects are described as three black males all around 5’10” tall and all under the age of 20. One was wearing a red hoodie and faded blue jeans. The second suspect was last seen in a gray hoodie with the hood pulled tight around his face. The third suspect had on a black hoodie with the hood pull tight around his face.

Aggravated Discharge: A shots fired call led Rockford Police officers to the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. The two victims advised they heard several gunshots. Their apartment was hit by gunfire five times. The day before, a car owned by one of the victims had its windshield broken out. The victims are familiar with the suspect and do not believe this incident is random. No one was hurt.

Aggravated Discharge: On Sunday, August 19 shortly before 7:30 p.m., Rockford Police officers responded to the 2100 block of 19th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that a blue car had driven by, and the occupants inside fired off several shots at the victim who was unloading groceries from his car in the driveway. The victim was not hurt and no property was hit. Officers located one spent shell casing.

Aggravated Battery w/ Knife: Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers were advised that a 39-year-old male had walked into a local hospital with stab wounds. The victim advised that was approached by two male suspects. One suspect began to stab and slash at him with a box cutter. The victim claimed the incident happened while he was walking in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue, however that location could not be confirmed as he was uncooperative. The victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening. The incident is not random.

Aggravated Discharge: Rockford Police officers met with a shooting victim who walked into a local hospital shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday. The 26-year-old male was looking to purchase illegal narcotics when he was shot. The victim was uncooperative so the exact location of the incident is still unclear. His injuries are non-life-threatening.

Armed Robbery: At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers met with a pizza delivery driver who was robbed in the 2000 block of S. 5th Street. The victim was walking to the door of the address given when he was approached by three male suspects. One suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded the victim’s money. The driver handed over cash and three pizzas. He was not hurt. The suspects are described as three black males in their mid-20’s. One is about 6’0”, 180 lbs, wearing a black hat and a black or gray jacket and armed with a handgun. The second suspect is 5’9”, about 160 lbs with short black hair, last seen wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. The third suspect is about 5’9”, 150 lbs wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
