Rockford Scanner™: Shots Fired Out At Rock Cut State Park, Still Developing

UPDATE: Officers said after investigating, it was determined that shots were not fired in the area. And the person who was reporting it (was 10-96), heard a water bottle in a bonfire nearby and thought it was shots fired. Police are now back in service.


Sources are reporting shots fired out at Rock Cut State Park just before 11 PM tonight. Shots were fired in the area of the campground at Rock Cut State Park. 

No injuries were reported. 

Possible suspect vehicle is a black truck. 

Several officers are en route.

Rockford Scanner™: Helicopter Assisting Local Police Combat Crime This Holiday Weekend

Several fans have contacted us in regards to a helicopter that is flying around the area.

The helicopter is assisting the local police tonight and also through the holiday weekend in combating crime.

Police have made several releases over the last few days saying they are cracking down of criminals this holiday weekend. The Department Of Homeland Security assists the local police in combating crime.

This helicopter has assisted the local police on several occasions in the past. The helicopter has at least one local police officer in it, to relay communications to the officers on the ground.

The technology on the helicopter is very high tech and can easily help combat crime and assist the officers on the ground.

The helicopter is used in a variety of situations. From roadblocks, special patrols, violent crime scenes, chasing criminals, etc…

Last week there was shots fired near the Auburn High School area. The RPD said they were cracking down and doing special patrols.

The helicopter has been assisting the police and providing security for the local schools, and the Winnebago County area tonight and for the holiday weekend.



Rockford Scanner™: Rollover Accident With Injuries In Ogle County


On August 30th, approximately 7:55AM, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the 2200 block of W Montague Rd.

The driver and lone occupant, Deryl Beyer, was transported (by German Valley Fire/ambulance) to Freeport Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries


Rockford Scanner™: Hit & Run To A Child in Rockford, Still Developing




Around 4:20 pm today several emergency personnel were responding to a hit and run in Rockford. 

A child approx. 12 years old was hit by a vehicle on N Winnebago in Rockford. 

The suspect vehicle fled the scene

No suspect information at the time of writing this. 

The child is injured, emergency personnel are en route

Around 3:15 pm, the Rockton FD were dispatched for a grass fire. 

Details are minimal right now,  only that there is a grass fire near Wagon Wheel.  Several units are en route. Still developing 



Rockford Scanner™: Local Emergency Room on Lockdown, Possible Shooting Victim

On Thursday August 30, 2018 at 8:29 p.m. Rockford Police Officers were dispatched to a local hospital reference a shooting victim.  The victim suffered from a non life threatening gunshot injury.  The victim indicated he was in the 600 block of St. Louis Ave. when he was struck by the gunfire.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department @ (815) 966-2900 or the Rockford Area Crime Stoppers (815) 963-7867.

Several sources are reporting the Rockford Memorial Hospital/Mercy Health Hospital on N Rockton ave, is currently on lockdown.

Several officers are at the emergency room area.

We been told that there is at least one shooting victim. It is not yet clear if the shooting happened at the ER, or if the victim was brought to the ER from a different location.

RPD has yet to release info on this. Still developing

Walmart Employee Tells Citizen To Stop Filming The Police

Around 7 pm tonight police stopped a vehicle at the Walmart on E State st.

A citizen was filming the incident, and an employee of the Walmart tried to tell the citizen to stop filming the police.

The citizen stood up to his rights, KUDOS TO THIS CITIZEN for standing up for your rights for filming the police, WALMART clearly violated your rights.  

The man jumped out of his vehicle and the police officer was on his tail and was able to capture the suspect just a few feet away.

INITIATIVE SUCCESS: The months-long initiative aimed at reducing violent crime in the Rockford area has led to another arrest. The total number of suspects taken into custody as a result of the Rockford Police Department’s Gang and Narcotics unit, along with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Violent Crimes Task Force, now stands at 26.

On Wednesday, August 29, 2018 a search warrant was executed in the 2100 block of Lucille Street, and detectives from the Narcotics Unit arrested 40-year-old Terrance Dotson. In addition, cocaine, cannabis and more than $20,000 were seized. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges: Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver, and Criminal Drug Conspiracy

Dotson was lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. His bond is set at $500,000. The charges against Dotson are merely accusations. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in court.



Rockford Scanner™: Rockford Fire Department En Route to A House Firer, Someone Inside Battling Fire With Garden Hose

Around 3 pm today the Rockford Fire Department were responding to a house fire. It happened in the area of 800 block of Hoban ave in Rockford. 

The residents evacuated the house. there is still someone inside the house trying to fight the fire with a garden hose, until RFD arrives. 

RFD arrived and confirmed smoke was showing and were laying a booster line to battle the fire. A fire investigator is also en route.

Rockford Scanner™: Rockford Police Asking For The Public To Help Them Identify Suspects In A Recent Crime



IDENTIFICATION HELP: Detectives from the Rockford Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance identifying two people following a theft last month. On July 30, 2018 officers responded to Golden Corral (995 S. Perryville Road) for an elderly woman whose purse had been taken.

The female suspect is described as a white female in her twenties with brown hair and a tattoo on her outer right ankle. Her companion, who is not considered a suspect, is described as a white male in his twenties with multiple arm tattoos.
