Rockford Scanner™: Pedestrian Hit By A Vehicle, Pedestrian Is Not Moving. Still Developing

On Saturday, June 16, 2018, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Rockford Police Department officers responded to the 2400 block of South Alpine Road for reports of a serious traffic crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 47-year-old male Rockford resident was crossing in the midblock of S. Alpine Road when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver, who is a 16-year-old male Rockford resident, remained on scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed as critical condition.

The Rockford Police Department Traffic Accident Reconstruction team was deployed to the scene.

On June 20, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and died while in the hospital. The investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time




Unknown if it is related: Several sources have told us the Rockford Police were on scene doing an investigation near this accident scene, on Sunday.  If it is related, the RPD believes the injuries are life threatening and possibly fatal. We will bring you updates as they become available.

Around midnight several emergency personnel were responding to a serious accident on the East side. 

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near Alpine and Harrison. 

The pedestrian is injured and is not moving. Injuries are believed to be life threatening according to a source. 

Several emergency personnel are en route. Avoid this area.
