On 6/13/2018, at around 3:45 AM, Officers from the Rockford Police Department were dispatched to the McDonalds, 314 N Mulford Rd, in regards to an Attempted Armed Robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with an employee who reported that they were approached by a single suspect, while entering the restaurant from a parking area. The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, fled the area on foot after he was prevented from entering the restaurant by a locked door. There were no injuries reported and nothing was taken from the business. The suspect was described as a black male, 35-40 years of age, 6’00” tall, 150lbs, wearing all dark clothing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Rockford Police Department.
At 4:53a.m. Rockford Police Officers responded to the 700 block of N. Horsman Street in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, Officers located a 47 year old male victim suffering from 2 non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his left leg. The initial investigation indicated that 3 unknown suspects confronted the victim, fired numerous shots at him and then fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was located unoccupied a short time later in the 700 block of Maple Street. Nothing further.

Around 5 am several sources were reporting a shootout between suspects in two different vehicles. That happened in the area of Mulberry and Hinkley.
A short time later emergency personnel were dispatched to the 700 block of N Horsman in reference to a shooting victim. At least one person was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local E.R.
It is unknown if the two scenes are related at the time of posting this.
Around 1 am this morning several police officers had a vehicle stopped in an alleyway near 8th st and 12th ave. Sources are reporting the WCSO initiated a traffic stop near this location. At least one alleged suspect (unknown description) fled on foot Eastbound from the vehicle.
A police K-9 was called in to search the vehicle and track the suspect. The dog went East from the vehicle.
It is unclear if they were able to catch the suspect, because the police K-9 did not track long.
