From Rockford Police Department

On Thursday, April 19, 2018, the Rockford Police Department received information regarding the sexual assault of a juvenile at a residence in the 900 block of Sanford Avenue.

Detectives from the Sensitive Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the report. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, Juan Meza.

On Thursday, May 17, 2018 at about 4:30 p.m. officers and detectives from the Rockford Police Department located Meza and took him into custody without incident. Meza was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond. A photo of Meza is attached.

ARRESTED: Juan Meza 48-years-old Rockford, IL
CHARGE: Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (victim under 13)
BOND: $10,000 / 10%

The charges against Juan Meza are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Due to the victim’s age and the nature of the incident no further information is available at this time.
