Update from the RPD:
On April 15, 2018 Rockford Police officers were alerted to an Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking which occurred in the area of Brooke Road and 11th Street. The victim reported that two men armed with firearms robbed her of her car.
A short time later, the victim’s vehicle was seen by an officer. Multiple suspects thought to be the armed hijackers were seen in the vehicle. The suspects saw the police before an attempt to stop them was made and they fled. A police pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle stopped under control at Kishwaukee and 16th Avenue and the occupants exited the vehicle. Three of the four occupants were detained with the driver escaping.
On-scene and subsequent investigation revealed the detained persons not to be the hijackers. The three persons detained were released without charge. The Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking investigation is ongoing.

Numerous officers set up a perimeter: East of Kishwaukee. Kishwaukee to the East, Broadway to the North, 6th St on the East, 17th ave on the south.
No suspect information at this time. Police did say they were actively tracking the alleged suspect(s)
