FELONY LANE GANG ACTIVITY AND ARREST IN JANESVILLE
On 03-15-18 at approximately 2:30pm Janesville officers were sent to Chase Bank at 1201 N Wright Road for a subject attempting to cash a stolen check.
Approximately one hour earlier, an employee from Chase Bank on N. Arch St. in Janesville called the branch on N. Wright Rd to advise someone had cashed a stolen check in the amount of $1600. They provided a vehicle description and a description of the suspect in the event the suspect showed up at the N. Wright Rd. branch.
The teller at the N. Wright Rd branch recognized the suspect by the descriptions provided to them earlier and contacted the police as the suspect waited for a check to be cashed.
Janesville officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody. The preliminary investigation showed the suspect was cashing checks that were stolen from an Elmhurst, IL resident who had left the checkbook in her car a t a local dog park the day before.
It was also determined the suspect was using fake ID’s and was driving a rental car with Florida plates. The suspect had used Velcro to attach a Wisconsin license plate over the top of the Florida plate to avoid detection.
The methods used by the suspect are those commonly used by the Felony Lane Gang. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is currently being held at the Rock Co. Jail.
