Several Burglaries At Local Parks
4/23/2018 via BPD: With warmer weather upon us it is a great time to get out to the parks and enjoy the weather. We have taken reports for burglary to vehicle in area parks recently. We would like to remind you to do the following:
Lock the doors of your vehicles
Do not leave valuables in view inside your vehicle
Be aware of where you park and your surroundings
And finally, if you see anything suspicious please contact the Police
Most of these crimes are of opportunity; let’s not give them the opportunity.
Recently several fans have contacted us in reference to numerous burglaries that have been happening at our local parks.
Suspects would break into the vehicles of victims while they enjoyed natures beauty.
While the victims are enjoying nature, one of natures darkest elements strikes.
Several vehicles have been burglarized in the local parks.
Rock Cut State Park being the worst of them.
- Etc… Several local parks.
We tried to get a statement from the police and park district.
But all we got was “These are active investigations, so no comment at this time”
If you decide to go enjoy natures beauty, please do not forget that somewhere out there might be lurking one of natures darkest elements, criminals.
So please lock your doors, do NOT have anything visible, and ladies do NOT bring a purse with you. If you have anything valuable, be sure to put it in your trunk BEFORE you go to the park!
It might be worth the investment to install a hidden camera in your vehicle, if you frequent the local parks. If a suspect wants to break into your vehicle, you have them on camera. A motion activated camera is another option, etc…
If you see someone suspicious, report them to the police.
Be sure to get their description, vehicle and license plate information, etc…
