UPDATE: A 24 year old man is dead. This is now a murder investigation.
On Friday, February 23, 2018, shortly after 6:30 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of South Henrietta Avenue in reference to a home invasion. When they arrived officers located one of the residents, a 24-year-old male, who was deceased from an apparent gunshot. A second resident, a 22-year-old female, was not injured during the incident. The names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation into the homicide. Based on information available to investigators at this time the description of the suspects is as follows:
SUSPECT #1: Black Male in his 20’s
5’9 200 lbs. Large Build
SUSPECT #2: Black Male in his 20’s
5’9 170 lbs. Small Build

This is an on-going investigation and no further details are available at this time. Further information will be released should it become available.
Around 6:40 am this morning several emergency personnel were dispatched to a home invasion and shooting in Rockford.
It happened in the area of 418 S Henrietta ave.
Initial reports are saying a suspect(s) broke into the residence and shot a male victim.
Unknown on the victims condition at this time.
Suspect(s) fled in a dark colored vehicle from the scene.
