Several sources were reporting a large police presence near Mulford and Harrison overnight around 2 am.

It appears they had a perimeter setup searching for a suspect(s)

Police are encrypted, and they said that it was a “Traffic Stop”

But sources are saying they did not have a vehicle pulled over.

But several officers were in the area searching for someone.

So it is not yet known exactly what happened.

Rockford Scanner®: Snow Later Tonight and Into Tomorrow

Show Your Support, Donate to Rockford Scanner
Click The Donate Button Above!

UPDATE…
814 PM CST

Not planning any noteworthy changes to going forecast for this
evening. Overall, not much to add to the short term discussion
issued earlier this afternoon below.

Couple items of note to watch for:

1) The RAP continues to be quite aggressive with a deep
frontogenetic circulation persisting into tomorrow afternoon. In
addition to the more robust/persistent f-gen band in the RAP,
cross sections cut through the f-gen band show some fairly deep
pretty strongly negative layers of saturated EPV (indicative of
less stable conditions) coincident with the stronger omega. This
certainly suggests at least some potential for exists for some
bands of moderate to heavy snow embedded within the larger snow
shield. That could result in some localized 3 to maybe near 4
inch totals, but thinking is those amounts will be very much the
exception not the rule. Given the low confidence and limited areal
coverage of heavier amounts, don’t see a need to adjust going
forecast snowfall amounts as the forecast message would largely be
unchanged.

2) Snow, potentially at a decent clip, should continue through
midday in the Chicago area, however with temps likely to be near
or a hair above freezing and battling the time of day, suspect
that it will get increasingly difficult for accums to occur on
roadways.

3) Finally, as short discussion alluded to, models are notorious
for struggling with accurate depiction of f-gen band intensity and
duration. While many models suggest a quick weakening of f-gen
circulation and resultant snowfall as it gets into northern IL, it
wouldn’t be at all surprising to see occasionally moderate
snowfall continuing through the morning and perhaps even into the
afternoon.

Only planned changes to the grids/forecast this evening are:
* tweaking hourly temps a bit to reflect a trend driven more by
precip than diurnal influences.
* adjust pops to 100% over northern CWA
* adjust sky cover to remain overcast through the day Saturday

Updated grids and test products will be out shortly…

Light snow is expected to spread southward across the area late tonight into Saturday afternoon. Forecast snow accumulations range from 1-2” north of I-80 to less than a half inch across southern portions of the forecast area.

If traveling late tonight and Saturday, plan for extra time to reach your destination as slippery conditions will be possible, especially on any untreated surfaces

Rockford Scanner®: RPD Says Medical Assist, Numerous Police And Crime Scene At A Scene In Rockford

UPDATE: This is a confirmed shooting victim.

A man approx. 26 years old was shot. He is listed in serious condition, but is expected to survive. No suspect information, due to the encryption.

UPDATE: RPD said “medical assist” But this is a confirmed shooting incident. Man was shot and is in serious condition, but is expected to live

Wonder how many of the “Medical assists” listed below, are also shooting victims?

Several sources reporting a scene at a Rockford gas station.

Numerous police and fire personnel are on scene at 3299 S Alpine at the Marathon Gas Station.

Crime scene tape all over the area and the crime scene unit.

RPD labeled the call as a “Medical Assist”  in their call logs.

Seems to be a lot of police on scene for it to be a “medical assist”  and why would you need crime scene tape up and a crime scene unit, if it was medical?

We been told it was a victim that was robbed and shot.

But can not confirm this due to the encryption.

You can see in the videos above and below, it definitely appears to be more than just a “Medical Assist”

Update from a fan: “I live in the neighborhood. Definitely not medical assistance. Owner said a person was shot, but not at gas station. I will send you pictures of area outside my house right after the ” medical asst” The officer said to me, reports of gunshot. Asked me if I heard anything.”

We are wondering how many of these “medical assists” are more than medical related?
