From the Rockford Police Department:
On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at about 2:45 p.m. patrol officers and detectives from the Rockford Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of 15th Ave. When they arrived they located the 24-year-old male victim, James Tomlinson, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Tomlinson was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident that was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, 38-year-old Geoffrey Brown of Rockford.
On Tuesday, December 12, 2017, Geoffrey Brown turned himself in at the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center. Brown was then lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. A photo of Brown is attached.
