On Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 at 4:35pm Rockford Police and Rockford Fire were dispatched to the intersection of North Second St and Ethel in reference to a serious traffic crash
Upon arrival, officers determined three vehicles had been involved in the crash. A Pontiac had made a left hand turn from North Second Street with the intent to enter the Nicholas Conservatory parking lot. As the Pontiac turned it was struck by a southbound Dodge. The impact forced both vehicles into a third southbound Toyota.
The driver and sole occupant of the Pontiac suffered fatal injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the Dodge was uninjured. The occupants of Toyota were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries
Members of the Rockford Police Department Traffic Unit responded and are conducting an investigation. Southbound traffic on North Second Street will be closed from Auburn St. The intersection of Ethel and North Second Street is also closed to southbound traffic. This is expected to last for several hours.
This is an active investigation. Additional information will be release when it becomes available.

It happened near N Second and Ethel.
Three vehicles are involved. Multiple injuries reported.
At least one person has passed away.
Traffic is backed up on N Second, avoid the area.
