ROCKFORD, Ill. – On Sunday, November 26, 2017, at about 2:30 p.m. Rockford Police Department patrol officers received a report of an aggravated battery incident that occurred at an apartment in the 1300 block of 6th Avenue.
The 30-year-old female victim reported that she had been pistol whipped by a male acquaintance during a dispute. Officers were able to determine that there was no domestic relationship between the victim and the suspect. The victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, 44-year-old Willie Walton, for the listed charges.
On Friday, December 1, 2017, shortly before 9:00 p.m. S.C.O.P.E. officers located Walton in the 1300 block of 6th Avenue and took him into custody without incident. Walton was then lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.
