On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, shortly before 4:00 a.m. patrol officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to the Kishwaukee Tap, 2327 Kishwaukee Street, in reference to a business alarm. When they arrived, officers found an exterior window that had been broken. A review of the surveillance video revealed that a single suspect had entered the business through the broken window and took an undisclosed amount of currency from inside before fleeing the scene.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident. The investigation was later reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a result, charges were authorized and a warrant was obtained for the suspect, 31-year-old Nicholas Real of Machesney Park.
On Monday, October 16, 2017, Real was arrested on the warrant and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
