Aggravated Battery – 300 29th St

On Friday, September 15, 2017 around 2:00pm, Rockford Police officers and the Rockford Fire Department were sent to the 300 block of 29th St in reference to a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers located a 29 year old Rockford resident who was suffering from a non life threatening stab wound to his torso. The investigation revealed this victim had gotten into an argument with the suspect and during this argument, the suspect stabbed the victim in the torso with a knife.
The suspect left the scene but was later located at Sandy Hollow Rd and Colony Dr. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
This case was reviewed with the State’s Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized against the suspect;
Waeel Wahba 30 year old Gilbert Illinois Resident
Aggravated Battery causing great bodily harm and Aggravated Battery with a Knife.
Wahba was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of bond.
The charges against Wahba are mere accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
