On Thursday, September 7, 2017, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Rockford Police Department S.C.O.P.E. officers responded to the 2900 block of Glenwood Avenue in reference to a call for shots fired.
When they arrived officers located witnesses who identified the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old John Parker, as being responsible for firing a gun into the air. Parker was located at the scene and taken into custody without incident. A handgun was also recovered during the investigation. No one was injured during the incident.
The investigation was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office who authorized the following charges:
ARRESTED: John Parker, 27-years-old, Rockford, IL
CHARGES: Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons
Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
No Firearm Owner’s Identification (F.O.I.D.)
Parker was later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail where he is being held in lieu of bond.
The charges against Parker are merely accusations and not evidence of his guilt. As with defendants in all criminal cases Parker is considered innocent unless proven guilty in court.
